Hot Mulled Wine Cocktail

Mulled Wine

  • 1/2 gallon apple cider
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) red wine
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 dash ground clove
  • 1 orange, sliced into rings

Cinnamon Sugar Rim

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Warm the apple cider in a sauce pan over low heat.
  2. Add in the pomegranate juice, red wine, sticks of cinnamon, dash of ground clove, and 2-3 orange slices.
  3. Let warm over low heat for 10-30 minutes until the flavors have melded and your whole house smells like the holidays. (Be careful not to let the mixture boil)
  4. Stir the sugar and cinnamon to combine on a salad plate.
  5. Use an orange slice to wet the rim of glass or mug, then dip in the sugar mix.
  6. Serve in rimmed glasses or mugs. Garnish with orange slices if desired. Cheers!

Notes

To make this in a slow cooker, just add all of the ingredients for the mulled wine to the crock pot and warm over low heat for a minimum of one hour. You can leave on warm setting until ready to serve.

Taking this to a party, or a tacky lights tour? Forget the cinnamon sugar rim and pour the mulled wine warm into an insulated carafe.
